Metropolitan Developer Limited has completed the construction of a concrete frame on behalf of Shepherd Construction at the iconic Plaza Phase 2 development in Leeds. Once the building is handed over by Shepherds, this 37-storey frame will provide accommodation for over 500 hundred students and become the tallest student accommodation structure in the UK, which has been developed by Unite Group plc.
Work began on site with the construction of the 110-metre high reinforced concrete core that was then followed by the casting of the individual post-tensioned floor slabs; which Metropolitan completed and handed over to Shepherd Construction 9 weeks ahead of the contract programme.
For this project, Metropolitan invested heavily in the Ischebeck Titan mesh screens and HV system. This enabled them to meet the challenges of constructing such a frame by enhancing both productivity on site whilst meeting stringent safety guidelines.
